The Skies of Wyoming

Embellished between the emptiness
Of the wild Wyoming skies
I hear the whispers, of a distant past
Which lies beneath my wings?

A calling I'm unable to deny
Is heard within the clouds, which dart in front of me
With only the hum of my twin engines, to keep me company
I steer this craft, with breathless thoughts, across the endless sky

I think back to younger days, in my dreams of yesteryear
Wishing I could go back, and begin all over again
Correcting mistakes made, in the years left to me
To change what was lost in the harm, which I caused

To the ones that I love so much
If only this could be, before I'm laid to rest
As I climb atop the snow covered mountains
Heading west across the wilderness, which lie before my eyes

I search for grace, to heal the pain that remains inside of me
I hear the echoes of another voice
Towards the peace, where my soul longs to be
It calls me back, to where I belong

A wayward son returning
To the family he left behind
And a home, where my heart will never leave
As I carried along with the wind

Golden Crescent

Golden Crescent

The day will come when Mother Nature will face the test of time

It seems the hour has arrived carrying a hurt that blinds the mind

It preys atop the ocean waves, spreading its evil webs

The blacken ooze coats the sea beneath in silence flows the ebbs

For beauty once adorned this golden crescent known as the Gulf of Mexico

It’s tarnished to the point of no return as the wind emits sad echoes

What once we took as so pristine unmarked by human hands

Now is marred by greedy excuses black tides will mark our precious sands

Is it too late to change our fate can we control our destiny

Are we to witness an ocean’s demise before our very eyes?

Every day this well remains uncapped brings death a little closer

Time is slowly running out our Gulf Coast needs a closure

If by the grace of God we’re able to stop the flow of oil

Years will be needed to clean our shores to again become unspoiled

Not to mention the loss of life atop the shoreline beneath the ocean

Even know the cessations of life stirs lively commotions

From those who live along the coast, making a honest living

They will suffer untold damage from their lively way of giving

Caused soulfully by man’s stupidity in drilling so terribly deep

Now Mother Nature will decide when to stop the tears she weeps

Ribbons of Pink Lace

As the sun begins to set between the late evening dew
My eyes paint a portrait from the reflections of your face
Across the canvas of the sky with brush strokes of golden hues
I create sparkling rainbows holding ribbon of pink lace

To drape upon your loveliness, which I carry within my heart
As I smother you with kisses for you take my breath away
Each moment of our closeness will ensure we'll never part
In our voyage amid the struggles a reminder for us to pray

As the stars fade into the twilight
The sun will rise to show the way
Towards the passion of our solemn plight
Sheer beauty expounds in the words I say

For the total sum of commitment is needed in sharing this reality
On a path we follow together in search of eternal bliss
Entwining our lives as never before, we seek a true destiny
For in this trek towards forever, our love will never cease

Dedicated:  Norma Southwood

There’s a silent hush upon her face

Half hidden within sweet dreams

Memories lost in a maddening chase

Across the scarlet streams

Conceived in being a righteous lass

A country girl who wears no crown

She grew into a woman of class

In her move to jolly London town

In a solemn attitude, so different than before

She learns it’s not quite the same

As she bolts and locks the door

Wondering what price is paid for fame?

Now the days are spent alone

No time for fun, just work

Recalling the times back home

Questions begin to lurk

One day she wakes yearning

From what was left behind

Thoughts from the past are burning

Within her tearful mind

Reflected from the mirror lines appear

Showing the effects of time

As the days turn into years

Teary eyes begins to pine

For what will never be

From all she left behind

Greeting another morn, she turns the key

As the sun begins to shine

At times a writer feels if only thoughts within our words could solve the problems of this world.  If our leaders would only listen to reason, and feel the aches and pains of this world in their hearts, and listen to common sense what peace would our globe reflect .
